       ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

WCDMA is Maturest and the Most popular of 3G in the world. This topic mainly studies 

soft handover in WCDMA. Soft handover is one of the key techniques in WCDMA system. It 
is the emphasis of radio resource management (RRM) and optimization. The soft handover 
algorithm and correlative parameters setting have an immediate effect on the system capacity 
and quality of service.So soft handover is very important in WCDMA.
   This article has carried on the comprehensive analysis and the research of the WCDMA 
system  to soft handover, Including cuts its and other contrast, planning and optimized design 
of soft  handover  in  network,then   from  signaling  level  multianalysis   the   concrete   process 
which it realized, the algorithm as well as the parameter establishment influence.

The channel quality and handset's traveling speed is the important affects of the soft 

handover. Soft handover technology quality also immediately influence cut success ratio as 
well   as   telephone   conversation   quality.  Therefore   renew   and   enhances   the   soft   handover 
technology appears very important unceasingly in the future, this is also an huge goal to many 
correspondence workers.
