"楚器"—湖北艺术馆

湖北艺术馆基地位于临近东湖的一个城市道路交叉口，周边建筑规划形态尺度差异极大，
路口的其他三个角均退开大小不一的广场。因此，方案提供一个完整的建筑形态，希望对路
口凌乱的建设状态起整合作用，并提供连续完整的街道界面；同时，艺术馆本身作为其他
三个方向街角广场的背景和视觉焦点，对其他广场起到空间界定的作用。

 

由建筑所处的城市路口转角，沿对角线向连接东湖的水面方向过渡和渐变，是设计处理建
筑的功能、空间、形态和表面肌理的主要方式：功能安排由喧闹的、公共的和世俗性的逐渐过
渡到安静的

 、私密的和文化性的；空间性质由开放的、自由的和动态的逐渐过渡到内敛的、

均匀的和静态的；建筑形态由透明开敞向封闭内向、由平滑曲面向棱角分明过渡。
 
建筑内部相互连通的小街和庭院是组织联系建筑各部分并进入建筑内部的主要路径，同时
把建筑与城市空间自然地衔接起来。几个不同尺度和性格的庭院与建筑实体部分互为图底，
是构成建筑完整形态的不可或缺的组成部分。

Hubei Art Gallery locates at a corner of a city crossing near Dong Lake, buildings nearby differ a 
lot from each other at the aspect of form and mass. Other three corners of the crossing each have a 
square  and  the  squares differ in scale.  Therefore, we hope  to  erect a integrity  form,  making the 
chaos  of  the  present  condition  due  to  the  uncontrolled  construction  transform  into  a  clear  city 
image,  as  well  as  providing  a  continuous  street  façade.  Meanwhile,  the  art  gallery  defines  the 
other three square spaces of street corners, serving as the background and focus in vision.
Gradual change and transition along the direction of diagonal from the corner of the crossing is 
the  main  way  to  arrange  the  function,  space,  form  and  the  texture  of  the  surface  of  the 
architecture.  Function:  the  noisy,  public  and  worldly  spaces  transit  gradually  into  quiet,  private 
and  cultural  spaces.  The  space  character:  the  open,  random  and  motive  spaces  transit  gradually 
into  the  introverted,  equal  and  static  spaces.  The  form:  the  image  of  transparency  and  smooth 
curve transits gradually into the image of opacity and sharp edges and corners.
The streets and courtyards connected to each other makes the main path that connects the different 
parts of architecture and induces people into the architecture. The courtyards of different scale and 
characters and the entity forms a figure-ground relationship, which is the necessary part to form 
the integrity of architecture.
