Talking about the importance of 

character design in 3D-animation

Abstract： In the field of character design in animations, the main characters are the 

most  important  component.  The  main  characters  usually  experience  the  entire  story, 

from  the  beginning  equilibrium,  through  development  and  climax,  to  the  ending 

resolution. The script should focus on the main characters, allowing them to build up a 

certain  level  of  complexity.  The  story  should  also  be  revised  or  edited,  so  that  the 

personalities of the main characters are consistent. Main characters are defined as the 

leading character, as well as the subordinate characters that are essential in making the 

conflicts.  The  modeling  of  the  leading  character  should  be  based  on  its  basic 

information such as name, sex, age, personality and habit. All animators should follow 

these basics strictly in order to create a consistent character.
