ME report title: Simulink Approach of Grid Current Control for Grid-connected system

A. Problem statement
The electricity generation by renewable energy becomes popular in this decade. There are
an increasing number of PV station and wind farm installations particularly in these years.
The electricity generate by renewable energy will be transmitted either to rural area or
connected to the grid. Thus, two issues arises which are how to connect the renewable
energy system to the grid and how to extract power from the renewable energy system. This
report shows the structure of the grid-connected system and furthermore, the grid current
control strategy for power extraction.
B. Objective
1. obtain the transfer function for the whole system
2. PI controller design for the current loop
3. PI controller design for the power loop
C. My solution
1. System differential equation could be obtained by observing the electrical circuit, the
system transfer function needs a further step-decouple.
2. PI controller design for current loop is based on the system transfer function and achieved
via Bode plot observation.
3. PI controller design for power loop is based on the instantaneous power calculation.
D. Contributions (at most one per line, most important first)
1. derive the system transfer function based on the system differential equation
2. the current control feasibility verification
3. the signal form (DC/AC) of three phase power verification
4. simpler version of controller structure
5. PI current controller design
6. PI power controller design
E. Suggestions for future work
While I may have benefited from discussion with other people, I certify that this ME report is entirely
my own work, except where appropriately documented acknowledgements are included.
